Andrzej Malec

I am a lawyer, logician and philosopher by education. Studied philosophy and logic at the Lomonosov Moscow State University (1986-1991). Graduated in law from the University of Warsaw (1989-1993). Defended my PhD thesis, devoted to defining in law, at the University of Lodz (2000). 

Professionally, I am a legal practitioner - a partner in a legal firm (‘Kochanski & Partners’, Warsaw, Poland), where I deal with law & economy issues as well as with legal argumentation strategies. I am also a member of several supervisory boards and an advisor to the boards of several companies.

I combine my professional work with research activities and occasional academic appointments:
• in 2014-2015 had been a professor and rector of the College of Public Administration in Bialystok,
• in 2000-2012 had been an assistant professor at the University of Bialystok,
• in 1997-2000 had been an assistant at the University of Bialystok,
• in 1991-1997 had been an assistant at the University of Warsaw (Bialystok Branch).


I am a member of scientific societies:
• the Polish Society of Logic and Philosophy of Science, where in the years 2012-2016 had been a member of the board,
• the Foundation for Computer Sciences, Logic and Formalized Mathematics (Warsaw, Poland), where since 2018 I am the chairman of the Foundation’s College (a kind of supervisory board).


I am the author of four books and over twenty papers on logic and legal theory.
